I've always had this passion for miniature vignettes. Like small little worlds - glimpses of another world. Tiny sculptures that share a secrete if you care to slow down and listen.
So my materials bring with them a history that adds to the saga and unites with other materials to create a new story in which to share. You'll see a myriad of found objects - old washers, rusty bits of metal, chards of pottery or sea shells. Organic elements play a huge part in both the inspiration and composition. Seeds, bark, sand, twigs, a feather, or even a coffee bean may sneak their way in. Like a complicated novel, each element plays a role.
Even the beads that I choose have significance apart from their obvious beauty. I use ancient stones from all over the world that enrich the story of my pendants or speak elegantly on their own.
Perhaps at first glance my jewelry is interesting, detailed, or even off-beat. But pay attention to the elements used and the story being told. For each has a history to tell, a faith to reveal, and a seed to sow. ~ Charity Fedde
